Fjord Counseling Land Acknowledgement
Fjord Counseling acknowledges that our offices, located at 2440 Willamette Street in Eugene, Oregon, reside on the traditional homelands of the Kalapuya people, who have been the Indigenous stewards of this region since time immemorial. The Kalapuya people built dynamic communities, maintained balance with wildlife, and enacted sustainable land practices that continue to inspire stewardship and care for the land today.

Following treaties between 1851 and 1855, the United States government forcibly removed the Kalapuya people from their Indigenous homeland, relocating them to the Coast Reservation in Western Oregon. Despite this history of displacement and colonization, the descendants of the Kalapuya people remain present and resilient. Today, they are members of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon, contributing to communities here and throughout the region.

We recognize the lasting impacts of colonization and affirm our responsibility to acknowledge and resist the erasure of Indigenous histories. At Fjord Counseling, we are committed to fostering a space of healing, justice, and reconciliation. We honor the sovereignty of all Indigenous nations and the Indigenous people who continue to live and work on this land.
We invite our clients, colleagues, and community members to join us in learning about and supporting Indigenous communities, advocating for equity, and engaging in practices that contribute to meaningful healing and justice.
