Announcing Fjord Counseling’s Land Acknowledgment: Honoring the Past, Committing to Justice

At Fjord Counseling, our work is deeply rooted in the values of equity, healing, and community. As part of our ongoing commitment to decolonization, anti-oppression, and culturally responsive care, we have published our Land Acknowledgment, which you can read here.

This acknowledgment is more than a statement—it is an action. It recognizes that we live and work on the traditional lands of Indigenous peoples, whose histories, cultures, and sovereignty have been systematically marginalized. In naming this truth, we reaffirm our dedication to dismantling systemic inequities and addressing the intergenerational impacts of colonization, which continue to shape behavioral health disparities today.

How This Aligns with Our Mission, Vision, and Values

At Fjord Counseling, we believe in the power of informed, inclusive, and trauma-responsive care. Our mission is to provide healing spaces that recognize the full context of a person’s lived experience—including the social, historical, and systemic forces that shape well-being. We envision a world where behavioral health care is accessible, affirming, and rooted in social justice.

By acknowledging the land we occupy, we also acknowledge our responsibility to engage in meaningful action. This includes:

• Advocating for policies that address behavioral health disparities in Indigenous and other historically excluded communities.

• Integrating culturally responsive and decolonized therapeutic practices into our work.

• Supporting Indigenous-led initiatives that promote healing, sovereignty, and justice.
